Keto Sausage Balls

Keto Sausage Balls – 2 variations!

When doing keto, you know how tough it is to go to parties with all the food that you can’t eat. You stand there staring longingly at the beautiful spread. You can either give in…or fight it and realize there are some great options. Oh! There is a crudité platter…check! Cheese plate, awesome! What we find helpful is to bring food we can eat to share with others. One of the biggest hits is sausage balls! Here we’ve given you two different variations we know are going to your party guests are going to ravage!

I first heard of these when my sister made them for a party. I think she made them the traditional way with cornmeal, sausage and cheese. They were so good I think they were scarfed within the first hour of the party.

Now that we live a keto lifestyle, I make these for us with coconut flour – we also prefer using ground turkey sausage instead of the traditional pork. We feel it helps them from getting too greasy, plus – I have a lot of friends who don’t eat red meat so it’s a win-win. I pretty much make these every other week, they make a perfect grab and go breakfast and freeze beautifully.

Then the Italian version came along when our friends from Houston came to stay and we threw a keto game night. They couldn’t find the hot turkey sausage so they improvised and brought back Italian sausage. Wow! Amaze-balls (yep…I went there). 😆

This is the mix for the Italian Stallion style.

Below are the two variations: the traditional with breakfast sausage (but hot breakfast sausage because…we live in Texas and heat is our bag, baby!) and cheddar then the Italian Stallion style…Italian hot turkey sausage and pizza cheese blend. You will love them both!

So perfect for a grab-n-go breakfast or quick snack!

Keto Sausage Balls (Traditional)

½ cup Coconut Flour (like Anthony’s)
6oz cheddar cheese, grated
1lb of Hot Turkey Sausage (look for low or no sugar)
1 large egg
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 Tbsp Coconut oil or melted butter
¼ cup Grated Parmesan

Preheat oven to 350. I use my toaster oven on convection but it runs pretty hot so I have to turn it down to 300. Mix everything together. Using a cookie scoop, scoop up the mixture and place onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for 12-16 minutes until browned to your likeness and firm to the touch. For our toaster oven, I find that happens at 10 minutes.

Serves: about 30 balls (1 per serving)
